http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analytical_Engine

http://www.retropoly.de/retropolyforum/ ... t&start=54

Again.
Art Mumby, his mostly irritating younger sister, Myrtle, and their mother have been invited to take a vacation at Starcoss, the finest sea-bathing resort in the entire Asteriod Belt. Just one problem . . . there are no seas anywhere in the Asteroid Belt, and that’s just the first sign that the hotel is not what it seems.
Sure enough, Art and family quickly find themselves face to face with French spies, Yankee rebels and man-eating starfish, not to mention an awful lot of sinister top hats." (amazon.de)

Punctuated by the noise of machines, a music arises in the smoky sky of an imaginary Victorian dusty city. Within modern instruments and the decadence of the orchestrations, we offer a journey into a world where copper and wood are kings, where the tictac of a clock rythm your life, and where the sun engulfs the factories' smokes.
Einflüsse:
SteamPunk Universe, Dark Tranquillity, Paradise Lost and Melodic Death Metal Bands.

Also für jeden, quasi. Oben der Trailer zum Buch, Snip von der Robotsite:
Boilerplate was a mechanical man developed by Professor Archibald Campion during the 1880s and unveiled at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition.
Built in a small Chicago laboratory, Boilerplate was a prototype soldier for use in resolving the conflicts of nations. Although it was the only such prototype, Boilerplate was eventually able to exercise its proposed function by participating in several combat actions.
Boilerplate embarked on a series of expeditions to demonstrate its abilities, the most ambitious being a voyage to Antarctica. Boilerplate is one of history’s great ironies, a technological milestone that remains largely unknown.
Boilerplate, Interview auf Comic Book Resources: Guinan and Bennett on “Boilerplate”, Wikipedia-Eintrag über Boilerplate

wie für mich geschrieben:
Leviathan
von Scott Westerfeld
Leviathan is set in an alternate steampunk past, in which the powers of the world are divided into “Clankers” ,who favour huge, steam-powered walking war-machines; and “Darwinists”, whose hybrid “beasties” can stand in for airships, steam-trains, war-ships, and subs (inclusing a giant squid/octopus hybrid called the kraken that can seize whole warships and drag them down).
Set on the eve of WWI, the story’s two main characters are Aleks, the incognito orphan of the freshly assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand and Deryn, a Scots girl who has dressed in boys’ clothes to join Britain’s Darwinist air-corps.
Filled with gripping air and land-battles, political intrigue and danger, science and madness, Leviathan is part Island of Dr Moreau, part Patrick O’Brien. And to top it all off, the volume is lavishly illustrated with fabulous ink-drawings of the best scenes from the book, executed in high Victorian style by Keith Thompson. (brassgoggles.co.uk)

The Affinity Bridge von George Mann
»I mean: Zombies AND Airships?! What could possibly go wrong?!«
Welcome to the bizarre and dangerous world of Victorian London, a city teetering on the edge of revolution. Its people are ushering in a new era of technology, dazzled each day by new inventions. Airships soar in the skies over the city, whilst ground trains rumble through the streets and clockwork automatons are programmed to carry out menial tasks in the offices of lawyers, policemen and journalists.
But beneath this shiny veneer of progress lurks a sinister side. For this is also a world where ghostly policemen haunt the fog-laden alleyways of Whitechapel, where cadavers can rise from the dead and where Sir Maurice Newbury, Gentleman Investigator for the Crown, works tirelessly to protect the Empire from her foes.
When an airship crashes in mysterious circumstances, Sir Maurice and his recently appointed assistant Miss Veronica Hobbes are called in to investigate. Meanwhile, Scotland Yard is baffled by a spate of grisly murders and a terrifying plague is ravaging the slums of the city. So begins an adventure quite unlike any other, a thrilling steampunk mystery and the first in the series of "Newbury & Hobbes" investigations. (amazon.com)

"f you’re worried that Steampunk has turned into a mere fashion aesthetic, then you’d better read this one..."
"It’s a stunningly imaginative remix of history, technology, literature, and Victorian adventure that’s impossible to put down."
"It’s a stunningly imaginative remix of history, technology, literature, and Victorian adventure that’s impossible to put down."
“A masked terrorist has brought London to its knees – there are bombs inside books, and nobody knows which ones. On the day of the launch of the first expedition to Mars, by giant cannon, he outdoes himself with an audacious attack. For young poet Orphan, trapped in the screaming audience, it seems his destiny is entwined with that of the shadowy terrorist, but how? Like a steam-powered take on V for Vendetta, rich with satire and slashed through with automatons, giant lizards, pirates, airships and wild adventure, The Bookman is the first of a series.” (http://brassgoggles.co.uk/blog/)
